Masterclasses

Do you feel the urge to really take the time for something you love and do it somewhere inspiring, with people who share your passion? Then our masterclasses may be just for you. Our masterclasses are open to anyone and to all levels, unless indicated differently.

For our masterclasses, Académie Le Grippault works with artists, writers and craftspeople who are not only accomplished in their field, but also attentive and generous teachers. Some have been working with us for many years; others join us through long-standing networks of trust and recommendation.

Each masterclass is shaped in close collaboration, allowing time for conversation, exchange and shared attention. Across disciplines -from landscape painting and writing to theatre, music and our 3D Book Club- the masterclasses offer space to learn, to practise, and to reflect.

The rhythm of each week balances focused work with time to wander and reflect. Teaching is combined with hands-on work, excursions into the surrounding landscape, and homemade fresh meals shared at an unhurried pace.

Inspired by our seventeenth-century neighbour, the writer François Rabelais, we nurture not just the five external senses, but also the internal ones: imagination, memory, instinct, fantasy, and judgement. Our masterclasses engage these through the teaching programme, the thoughtful details of your room, the books and art you encounter throughout the house, and the fresh meals we prepare for you.

If this resonates with you but you’re unsure which masterclass is the right fit, we’re happy to help. Reach out for a brochure or simply to explore whether Le Grippault is the right place for you right now.

Are you an artist, a craftsman, a scholar, a philosopher, an ecologist or…well anyone really with a great idea for a masterclass or other multiday programme at Le Grippault? Do drop us a line. We’d love to talk.
