In the Western world for many decades we have asked ourselves what the real impact of theatre is on its audiences. Can theatre really be a driver of change in society? That question seems more urgent than ever. One thing is sure: theatre can help society see things in a different way. Put events in a new daylight. Give hope and inspiration. At Académie Le Grippault, we believe that theatre has the power to transform individuals and communities.
Theatre
Our mission is to support a new generation of theatre students to become as versatile and adventurous as possible in these times of rapid change and uncertainty. We believe that by cultivating a deep understanding of the craft of theatre, students can learn to harness its transformative potential to create positive change in the world.
Regenerating Theatre : residential course
Académie Le Grippault offers an five-week residential course called ‘Regenerating Theatre’, in collaboration with a network of international theatre schools. The course provides a unique opportunity for theatre students to deepen their practice in a setting that mimics the conditions of an ecosystem, allowing them to experience a holistic approach to their craft. Our goal is to help students develop resilience and versatility as theatre makers, equipping them to adapt to the ever-changing demands of the industry.
During their stay, students will broaden their scope of work and learn new methods of making site-specific theatre, drawing inspiration from the natural environment and the countryside. Our focus is on providing a nurturing environment for students to develop their artistic skills and explore their unique vision for their craft. The next residential course will take place in September and October 2025.
Theatre Residency: Your Next Step
Académie Le Grippault offers one week residential courses for theatre lovers, designed to provide a unique opportunity for participants to learn from seasoned practitioners and gain new insights into the craft of theatre making. In 2025 we organise two residential courses: one course on the work of Shakespeare by Gijs Scholten van Aschat (28 April-4 May), an one based on a novel (to be anounced) by Maria Kraakman, Vincent van der Valk and Jeroen De Man Bergen (6 to 12 July).
